Welcome to the XanCam(TM)
XanCam was a window into the life of Xandria (cohabitor of cats, writer, Lego enthusiast, techno geek, goldfish lover, intrepid explorer of life's "off the beaten" paths and watcher of far too many movies.) XanCam was not a "porn cam", nor was sexuality the focus of this Cam. This Cam was, however, unrated. You MAY have observed material that YOU considered objectionable. As always, if you did not like what you saw, you were free to close the window!
The End:
All things must come to an end, and XanCam is no different. It has been quite a journey.
The History:
XanCam began on October 31, 1997 and operated for four years.
XanCam began as a show cam only, and eventually made the transition into a 24/7 WebCam, at times with multiple cams.
For almost four years I revealed various aspects and segments of my life to the public for others to read or observe. I always tried to emphasize the "aspects and segments only", but some people thought that what they saw and read comprised me entirely. And even then, it was difficult to convey that I myself was actually somewhat removed from what was shown. However, people often see what they want to see -- and I cannot fault them for that very common human condition.
I shared a variety of my interests with the online world, my acerbic wit, my wedding, and the trials and tribulations of my repetitive strain injury and consequent depression. And I finally had to face the fact that much of my life would be changed forever and that I would no longer be able to participate in some of those realms I once traveled with such fervor. I subsequently worked to fashion for myself a new life, new goals and heal some old wounds (I only wish the physical ones would heal). My priorities changed and so have my interests.
The Present:
My permanent disability has given me quite a different perspective on life and living. I value what time and energy I have far more than I ever did before. I am far more judicious in my expense of this energy, because I have only such a finite amount allotted to me.
I have lately been unable to spend the time and energy I would like to on XanCam. Once upon a time both TFM and I had numerous ideas and plans for XanCam -- some absolutely ingenious concepts... several of which have not yet graced the Internet (this, of course, is only a matter of time). These machinations were waylaid at the onset of our injury and were never able to see the light of day.
In addition to the time and energy factor, there is that of finances. Our recent and current limited means are reserved entirely for basic living expenses, and our new business. XanCam always was a free web cam, and that is how it should be during its lifetime.
The Plan:
I have created a XanCam CD. I have had numerous requests over the years for copies of shows and pictures as well as video. We have made this CD available for purchase.

Am I sad that it is over?
No, not really. It's time for me to forge ahead on other pathways.
Will XanCam return?
Who knows -- but I rarely say never.
What are my final thoughts on WebCams?
Like all technology and media, WebCams are no different -- they appeared, became a craze, everyone was curious about them, it became commonplace, it became integrated into our lives and culture, and WebCams will continue to grow and develop into new territories.
